Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the practices of members of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association Inc. In treating Musculoskeletal pains. this study was aimed at describing the sociodemographic profile of the subjects also identified the musculoskeletal pains most commonly treated by the subjects and different mediums applied, duration of each treatment in the techniques employed in treating musculoskeletal pains. This study was done in Tanza, Cavite. Subjects were the members of PBMA, ages 25-65, regardless of sex, occupation and educational attainment. the members of PBMA served as an informant for the completion of this research. Questionnaire were given and results were analyzed and frequency distribution tables were made for data presentation. Results showed that majority of the members of the PBMA were within 31-40 years of age with the male population greater the female population. Regarding educational attainment elementary graduates showed the highest percentage. The top occupation other than healing is being housewife. Most of the respondents of the PBMA have had 5-10 years of experience as manghihilot. As to musculoskeletal pain treated , back pain was the most common. Of the different medium they incorporate with their healing, Oil of Coconut was the most common type of medium used by 15 of the 25 respondents. Most members of the PBMA allotted 6-10 minutes in treating musculoskeletal pain. Regarding the techniques employed in treating musculoskeletal pains. Prayer showed the highest percentage. It is important to know the techniques and medium they employ in treating musculoskeletal pains so that if they are really effective they can become a part of health teams as representative in rural areas where they practice.
