Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the most common musculoskeletal problems among computer encoders at Teligent System Inc. at G-H Vernida 1 condominium, 120 Amorsolo St., Legaspi Village, Makati City. From the said company, 60 respondents were interviewed. Out of the 60, 50 individuals (83.3%) are currently experiencing musculoskeletal pain while the remaining 10 individuals (16.6%) are not experiencing any musculoskeletal pain at present. The study showed that there was a prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among females (56%) whose ages range 23-25 years old (40%). Most of the respondent who had musculoskeletal pain worked from 5-8 hours a day (62%) , 5 days a week (80%) and has been working for 3-4 years (42%). It was also observed that the most common body area where muscle pain is found is the back (32.43%) , followed by the neck/nape (28.32%). this pain usually occurs after working (48%) and are usually aggravated during sitting position (58%). The authors recommend that distribution of information regarding the prevention of musculoskeletal pain be implemented. this can be done through conduction of seminars and pamphlet distribution on the causes of pain and other measures that can be done to alleviate the pain. Also the use of better working equipment such as ergonomically designed keyboards, mouse, etc. Lastly, formation of better working environment which will minimize musculoskeletal stress.
