Abstract
This study was about the most common musculoskeletal dysfunction among factory workers of Yazaki in Imus, Cavite. The main objective was to determine the most common complaint of the workers and the body parts usually affected. The study was conducted at the Yazaki EDS Manufacturing Inc. in Imus, Cavite wherein a survey was conducted utilizing a guide questionnaire answering the objectives of this study. A total of 165 respondents out of the 300 factory workers who answered survey questionnaire answering the objectives of this study. A total of 165 respondents out of the 300 factory workers who answered survey questionnaires participated in the study after they have met the criteria that the authors have set. The study found that pain was the most common musculoskeletal symptoms found among qualified respondents. The body parts affected by pain that resulted to dysfunction were low back, shoulder, wrist, and neck in decreasing order. Based on the data collected, this study showed that most common musculoskeletal dysfunction was low back pain (65.45%). Majority of the subjects who complained of low back pain belonged to the age group 26-30 years old (43.52%), female (68.62%) and single (59.26%). Operators seemed to be mostly afflicted with low back pain (50.92%), who always assumed standing position while working (71.30%) and with 5-8 years of working experience at Yazaki EMI (37.96%). In accordance to this, routine occupational health assessment should be done every year so that the management can take into consideration the physical problems that their workers experience, thus appropriate actions can be given which may result to be better working performance of their employees.
