Abstract

This was study on the exercise practices of elderlies at Barangay San Jose, Calamba, Laguna. The purpose of the study is to determine the frequency of elderlies who do exercise in Barangay San Jose, Calamba, Laguna and be significant to physical therapy interns and professionals in order to educate elderlies about the benefits and importance of exercise. The objective were to determine the frequency of elderlies who do exercise at Barangay San Jose Calamba, Laguna according to sex, age, educational level and previous lifestyle. Questionnaires were given to 50 elders. Data gathered were tabulated according to socio-demographic data of those elderlies who do exercise. Findings show that there is very low frequency of elderlies at Barangay San Jose, Calamba. Laguna who do exercise more compared to middle old, as to education, tertiary level exercise more, and as to lifestyle , and active elderlies perform exercise more than sedentary. Results of the data shows that there is really a need to educate elderlies about the benefits and importance of exercises because of its low frequency of elderlies who do exercise at Barangay San Jose, Calamba, Laguna.
