Abstract
This was a study on the five most common musculoskeletal complications among paraplegic amputee patients in Tahanang Walang Hagdan and AFP Medical Center. The objectives were to determine the five most common musculoskeletal complication among paraplegic amputee patient in Tahanang Walang Hagdan and AFP Medical Center, to determine the demographic characteristics of the subjects according to: age, sex and type of work; to determine also the proportion of the subjects suffering from musculoskeletal complications and to be able to educate patient regarding the most common musculoskeletal complications of amputation and its prevention. the study was conducted at tahanang Walang Hagdan in Cainta, Rizal and in AFP Medical Center in V. Luna Road, Kamias, Quezon City. The data were gathered through an interview and with guide questionnaire. A total of 15 qualified subjects were gathered and interviewed. Of the 5 most common musculoskeletal complications the phantom pain was commonly experienced among amputee patients which has 66.67% (10 subjects),subsequently followed by weakness which has 40% (6 subjects), atroph with 26.67% (4 subjects), tightness with 20% (3 subjects) and lastly was contracture with 6.67% (subject).
