Abstract
Hands on manipulation for healing is probably older than any other healing traditions . It is possible to believe that the very beginning of massage was actually an outgrowth of mans instinct to rub, soothe, press, or path an injured or uncomfortable part. The medical used of pharmaceutical, surgical, and technological medicine. And in this industrialized age mechanical hand massager has been invented to suit our fast paced lifestyle and make massage easier and faster to administer. Each mechanical equipment claims to have therapeutic effects equal to, if not better than manual massage. OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness of mechanical hand massager in treating low back ppain secondary to muscle strain. METHODS: The study used experimental type to determine the effectiveness of Body Shops Hand Massager with the used of assessment sheet in which pain scale, truknk ROM, and functional performance (sitting/standing tolerance) were assessed before and after two treatments among 30 respondents in three different centers who complaints of low back pain secondary to lumbar strain. RESULTS: The used of Body Shops Hand Messenger , as a mechanical massage equipment, with conventional treatments showed significant decreased in pain scale, increased in trunk ROM and functional performance in sitting/standing tolerance. CONCLUSION: The researchers concluded that the Bodys Shop Hand Massager was effective in treating low back pain secondary to strain with conventional treatment. And can be an optional modality in doing massage.
