Abstract
Perception of the community plays an important aspect in the effectivity of the Community Oriented Rehabilitation Program (CORP) of De La Salle University- Health Sciences Campus College of Physical Therapy (DLSU-HSC-CPT). This perception from the community serves as an instrument for institution to provide better and quality rehabilitation to the people with disability as well as services and training provisions for health workers and patient's family. By knowing the perceptions of the rural communities to such program, implementation of necessary tasks needed to achieve the optimal goal would be less difficult. This study is about the perception of rural community health workers in Barangay Batasand Barangay Calubcob in Silang, Cavite regarding the CORP of DLSU-HSC-CPT. Benefactors of this research study includes the administrators, faculty, staff and students of DLSU-HSC-CPT. the study made used of descriptive design and descriptive statistics. It aimed to determine the profile of the respondents as to educational level, economic status, and motivation/ interest in the program. It also aimed to determine the perception of the respondents regarding CORP of DLSU-HSC-CPT as to its objectives, content, implementation and resources. Interview guide was used as research instrument by the researchers to conduct a study if 12 qualified health workers from Barangay Calubcob and Barangay Batas Silang, Cavite. Interview sessions were conducted by the researchers to the respondents. Data were gathered, analyzed, and synthesized for conclusion. The study was limited at the perception of the health workers of 2 rural communities in Silang, Cavite, which was focused on the respondent's analysis/ opinion regarding the CORP's objectives, content, implementation, and resources. Results of the study revealed the following; (a) majority of the respondents were graduates of primary education, minority weregraduates of the secondary education and undergraduates of tertiary education; (b) most of the respondents partially depends on other family members for support and on certainoccasions were jobless; some respondents were independent or self-supporting with the other members of the family to support; (c) majority of the respondents were fully interested in the COPR; (d) majority of the respondents rated the clarify of the objectives as satisfactory and clarify of the content of the COPR as very satisfactory; (e) majority of the respondents rated outstandingly the accomplishment/ effectivity of the objectives of the CORP, effectiveness of the skills of human resources, and effectiveness of the materials used; (f) consensus of the respondents rated the relevance of the content, effectiveness of the implementation, effectiveness of the relation of human resources of the CORP, effectiveness of the teaching/training methods employed in the COPR, and evaluation tools used in the CORP as outstanding.
