Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the knowledge , attitude , and practices of all active barangay health workers in Dasmariñas, Cavite regarding osteoarthritis. An interview schedule composed of ten closed-ended question was used in order to gathered the necessary information. Results were then analyzed descriptively and the researchers came up with the following conclusions: Majority of the barangay health workers only have correct knowledge regarding the common cause, age of onset, and part affected of osteoarthritis with 74.8%, 75.7%, & 56.8% respectively. Only 36.5%, 21.6% & 44.6^ of the barangay health workers answered correctly regarding the definition , common symptoms, and type of gender commonly affected by osteoarthritis, respectively; Majority of the barangay health workers (85.1%) have the proper attitude that osteoarthritis needs immediate remedy,. Majority of the barangay health workers (32.$%) applies proper treatment and management in treating osteoarthritis which is taking prescribed medications. The researchers would like to recommend community seminar for all barangay health workers regarding all type of arthritis. Increase in awareness of all barangay health workers regarding knowledge of the disease, proper attitude and practice in managing and treating arthritis will be beneficial to the community since they are the one who will render initial services to the people.
