Abstract

Many workers were obliged to work harder that even exceeded to their physical capacity in order to earn more. This made them prone to different types of musculoskeletal injuries obtained during work. This study was made to further understand the situations of pushcarts vendors in Kadiwa Dasmariñas, Cavite. During the study, the researchers briefly educate them regarding their disease and some interventions to be done. Its main objective was to determine the most common work-related musculoskeletal problems experienced by the pushcart vendors at Kadiwa Dasmariñas, Cavite. In order to meet our objectives, we randomly selected 31 subjects using a convenient sampling method from Kadiwa Dasmariñas who met our inclusion criteria. the researchers had a one-on-one interview using a questionnaire, with close-ended questions written in Tagalog and with direct physical examination to the pushcart vendors. From the data gathered, there was an almost equal frequency of male and female respondents. Most of them were ages 31 and above, and worked for not more than 10 years, 7 days a week and with an average of 9 working hours. Most of them had back pains for 1-3 years, more particularly to lower area, yet most of them had no medical interventions. Upon doing the physical examination, 7 of them had postural deviations, 13 were positive on Jump sign and 11 have taut bands, From all the data collected, the researchers concluded that the most common work-related musculoskeletal problems encountered by the pushcarts vendors in Kadiwa Dasmariñas, Cavite was low back pain.
