Abstract

This is a descriptive study that aims to determine the compatibility of measurement of MR BORG board with the dimensions of the tricyles and the anthropometric measurement of stroke patients. The measurement of the 100 stroke patients and 100 tricyles were used as a basis for the fit of the MR BORG board. The measurements coincided with each other and thus showed the feasibility of the MR BORG board to transfer stroke patients from tricycle to wheelchair and vice versa. The measurement of the MR BORG board as to its seat width is 31 cm. The seat lenght when not extended is 66 cm, while the seat lenght when extended is 80cm. The seat height of the MR BORG board when the iron stands are fully shortened is 27.31 cm and the seat height when the iron stands are fully lengthened is 34.93. The sustainable weight of MR BORG Board is 142.05kg. The Anthropometric Measurements of Stroke patients as to height, weight, hip width, measurement from greater trochanter to lateral knee joint line and measurement from medial malleolus and their respective values as to average and standard deviation. The average measurement and standard deviation for the height is 161.34 cm and 8.48 respectively. For the weight measurement, the average is 58.87 kg and its standard deviation is 10.19. The hip width's average and standard deviation is 38.81 cm and 5.87 respectively. For the Measurement from greater trochanter to lateral knee joint line, the average is 38.95 cm and the standard deviation is 3.95. The average and standard deviation of the measurement from the medial knee joint line to medial malleolus is 35.55 and 3.20 respectively. Anthropometric measurements used in the study included patients' weight, height, hip width, measurement from greater trochanter to lateral knee joint line and measurement from medial knee joint line to medial malleolus. The average weight of the patients was 58.87 kilograms. The average height of the patients was 161 cm. Patients' hip width average was 38.81 cm. The measurement taken using the landmarks from the greater trochanter to the lateral knee joint line yielded the average of 38.95 cm. The measurement from the medial joint line to the medial malleolus obtained the average of 35.55 cm. The measurements gathered from the tricycle included the length of the following: from the floorplate of tricycle to top of seat, from the floorplate of the roof of sidecare and from the seat to the front sidecar. The average of the former measurements was 24.2cm, 105.94cm and 60.67 cm respectively. Other measurements included the width of sidecar seat, depth of sidecar seat, height of sidecar flooring to ground, widest point of tricycle opening, narrowest point of tricyle opening, narrowest point of tricycle opening and highset height of tricycle opening. The average of the average measurements was 24.2 cm, 105.94 cm and 60.67 cm respectively. Other measurements included the width of sidecar seat, depth of sidecar seat, height of sidecar flooring to ground, widest point of tricycle opening, narrowest point of tricycle opening and highest height of tricycle opening. The average of the former measurements was 76.57 cm, 34.47 cm, 34.47 cm, 71.56 cm, 41.24 cm and 103.71 cm respectively. The measurement of the MR BORG Board's seat length is compared with stroke patients' average hip width and the tricycle's width of sidecar seat. MR BORG board's seat length, which is 58.42 cm, is compatible with the patients' average hip width and tricycles' width of sidecar seat which is 38.41 cm and 76.57 cm respectively. With regards to the MR BORG Board's seat width, which is 30.48 cm, it is compared with the average of Weber-Bartstow (graeter tronchanter of femur to lateral knee joint line) and average depth of sidecar seat which is 38.95 cm and 34.37 cm respectively and is compatible. The value of the average Weber-Barstow (medial knee joint line to medial malleolus) and average of the Floorplate of tricycle to edge of seat is compared with the MR BORG Board's seat height. Their corresponding values are 35.55 cm, 24.2 cm and 27.31-34.93 cm.
