Abstract

Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitude and practices of the teachers at selected elementary schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite: Dasmariñas II Central School, Fernando E. Barzaga Memorial School and Dasmariñas Elementary School. Research Design: Descriptive study. Setting: Selected elementary schools at Dasmariñas, Cavite. Participants/Respondents: The respondents in the study consisted of 104 out of 188 teachers from the three selected elementary schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Procedures/Interventions: Each respondent was asked to answer a questionnaire regarding the knowledge, attitude and practices of low back pain. Results and Discussions: Based on the study, out of the 104 qualified respondents, majority are female, within the age group of 30-39 years old, and are married. They have been in the teaching services for less than 14 years. The knowledge of the respondents regarding low back pain in terms of it definition, types, risk factors, causes and prevention are high, while in terms of its management is average. The respondents have taken these infomations from journals, articles and books (54.81%). Their attittude towards low back pain is mostly not favorable (87.69). And lastly, the teachers at selected elementary schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite has moderately good practices in terms of management and prevention of low back pain. Conclusion: After the research procedure, the researchers came up with the conclusion that the teachers at selected elementary schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite are highly knowledgeable but has unfavorable attitude towards low back pain. Lastly, they have moderately good practices concerning low back pain.
