Abstract
This is a quasi - experimental study that determines the effectiveness of mobilization with movement versus End Range Mobilization for patients with Adhesive Capsulitis as to Pain, range of motion and functional capabilities. Fourteen subjects were included in the study and were diveid into groups. Treatment management is the same for both groups (modalities and exercises). indexes of pain, range of motion and functional capabilities were measured and pertinent demographic data was recorded by the researchers before and after the treatment until th end of 6 treatment sessions of the study. Each group was treated by either MWM or ERM respectively. After 6 treatment sessions of the study, the two interventions had a statistically significant result in pain relief, increasing ROM and improving functional capabilities. For the group treated with ERM, their mean age was 51, majority of whome was female and right handed. For the group treated with MWM, the mean age was 49, majority of whom was male and right handed. By comparing the results of the pre-test scores, the study revealed that ERM is effective in terms of reduction in pain, improvement of ROM and functional activities. The study also revealed that MWM is effective in terms of reduction in pain, improvement of ROM and functional activities. when the two treatment techniques were statisticaly analyzed using the independent t-test at .05 level if significance, results showed that the difference between ERM and MWM is not significant based on the results in pain reduction, improvement of ROM and functional capabilties. Therefore, the researchers do not reject the null hypothesis and concludes that there is no sufficient evidence to prove that one method of treatment is more effective than the other. Statistical findings showed that both interventions were effective in pain relief, increased ROM and improvement in functional capabilities. However, there is no statistically significant result or significant difference in comparing which is more effective between ERM and MWM. It may suggest that the study requires more participants to determine the difference between the two interventions for Adhesive Capsulitis.
