Abstract
This study used a descriptive study method which analyzed the risk of acquiring work-related musculoskeletal disorder of Physical Therapists in doing activity factor’s specifically when performing sit to stand among patients at three (3) specific phases (Weight Shift, Transition, and Lift Phase). The study was conducted in selected hospital-based rehabilitation clinics in Dasmarinas, Cavite specifically the De La Salle University Medical Center- Rehabilitation Clinic and St. Paul Hospital Cavite. A total of 14 Physical Therapists were given screening tool, 9 out of 14 were included in the study and 5 out of 14 were excluded in which they have already acquired a work-related musculoskeletal disorder which was medically diagnosed. Through observation, postures of neck, trunk and leg, arm and wrist have been evaluated through three phases of sit-to-stand (Weight Shift, Transition Phase, and Lift Phase) as well as the force/load, coupling, and activity and determined through the video taken by the researchers using the right lateral view which will yield a more useful view to evaluate postures of different body regions using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment Tool. The Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) is an ergonomic assessment tool that utilizes a systematic way of assessing the posture of the whole body and risks related with job task. It consists of a single page worksheet used to assess required or specific body posture, forceful exertion, as well as the type of movement or action, repetition, and coupling. The researchers conclude that there is a high risk of acquiring work-related musculoskeletal disorders among Physical Therapists working in selected rehabilitation clinics in Dasmarinas, Cavite specifically De La Salle University Medical Center– Rehabilitation Clinic and St. Paul Hospital Cavite. Majority of the respondents has an age of between 20-25 years old, with most of them coming from the male population. Majority of the participants have less than five years of experience. All of the three phases of the sit-to-stand have high risk for developing work-related musculoskeletal disorders but the highest is the weight shifting phase next is the lifting phase and last the transition phase.
