Abstract

This study utilized a sequential explanatory design. A total of 19 Persons with Disabilities from Barangay Ligas 3 were obtained through purposive sampling technique. The tools used in this study were self-made survey and interview questionnaire. Results showed that the respondents’ age range is from 30 y/o to 62 y/o. Majority of the respondents were female (74%), with an income of Php 20,000 - Php 100,000, college graduate and with a maximum household member of 10. In terms of their knowledge in physical therapists’ roles in general, majority have a high level of knowledge with percentage of 89.5% with a mean score of. Interms of their awareness, majority of the respondents are aware as determined by their answers on the interview questions. However, there seem to have some misconceptions about certain aspects of the physical therapists’ roles, such as having a part in wound management. In conclusion, majority of respondents from Barangay Ligas 3 have high level of knowledge and are aware on the roles of physical therapists as health care providers, promoters of health and wellness, and educators.
