Abstract

This research was conducted to measure the level of awareness of selected Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Grade 11 students from the selected public and private senior high schools in the City of Dasmariñas on the program Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Medicine Technology (BSNMT). The sample for this research was determined through total enumeration sampling technique for public schools and proportional quota sampling technique for private schools. This study utilized a descriptive quantitative research design. Data were gathered using a self-made questionnaire and was treated with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Mann-Whitney-U-test, and Kruskal-Wallis H-Test.

Findings of this research study showed that majority of the respondents are female and are enrolled in private schools. Also, most of the respondents do not have family members working in the healthcare field, and their monthly family income range is mostly within Php 21,195 to Php 43,828. The respondents’ level of awareness falls on moderately aware, suggesting that they have a few ideas on what BSNMT is, but not to a full extent of awareness. The research study reported that there are no significant differences between the level of awareness of the respondents on BSNMT when they are grouped according to type of school, family members in the healthcare field, and monthly family income. On the other hand, the study showed a significant difference between the respondents’ level of awareness on the program according to sex, where male respondents have a higher level of awareness than female respondents.
