Abstract

This study investigated the attitude of patients towards nuclear medicine procedures. The respondents are the diagnostic nuclear medicine patients in selected hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Cavite. This study utilized a quantitative descriptive research design. Data were gathered using a self-made questionnaire given to the respondents before they underwent nuclear medicine procedure. The data were treated using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey Honesty Significant-Difference test, and independent t-test.

The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents have a positive attitude towards nuclear medicine procedures, with the cognitive component having the highest mean, and the behavioral component having the lowest mean.

When grouped according to age, those belonging to age group 18-39 have better attitude than those belonging to 40-59 years old in terms of affective component. In terms of sex, female respondents have better attitude than those of male respondents in terms of cognitive and affective component. In terms of prior experiences, patients with experience to nuclear medicine procedure have better attitude in terms of the cognitive component and overall attitude.

On the other hand, the attitude of the respondents in terms of cognitive and behavioral components and overall attitude do not significantly differ when grouped according to age. Likewise, when grouped according to sex, attitude in terms of behavioral component and overall attitude are the same regardless of sex. When grouped according to prior experience to nuclear medicine procedure, their attitude is the same in terms of affective and behavioral components.
