Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the career choices of nuclear medicine technology students in De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. The researchers used a quantitative descriptive research design. A self-made questionnaire was utilized and data were collected from a total of 100 respondents which were then analyzed using frequency, percentage, and ranking. The findings of the study show that majority of respondents are female, first-year NMT students, graduated from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand, and have family members who are healthcare workers. BSNMT being a new and pioneering course sparks the interest, not only of the respondents but also the influencers, especially parents. It is the most noticeable reason why a student decides to take BSNMT. Majority of the respondents are satisfied with their decision to take BSNMT because they enjoy the course overall including its curriculum and what it offers. However, some students are not satisfied with the online class setting as it is not enough for a skill-based career. Despite notable reasons for dissatisfaction, still, all of the respondents want to graduate from BSNMT, and majority of the respondents intend to work as nuclear medicine technologists.
