Abstract

This study investigated the factors influencing job satisfaction among Nuclear Medicine Technologists (NMTs) in the Philippines, utilizing Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory. The study employs a descriptive research design. The participants were chosen through non proportional quota sampling and encompass only those that are currently employed as NMTs in the Philippines. The data was gathered using a validated self-made questionnaire, guided by Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory. After screening, only 29 out of 31 responses were valid to be subjected to statistical treatment including mean, frequency distribution, t-test, and one way ANOVA. The three (3) findings for each factor revealed that both intrinsic (motivation), with "the work itself," "responsibility," and "achievement" being most influential; and extrinsic (hygiene), where "interpersonal relations," "working conditions," and "salary and benefits” stood out, were perceived as highly influential on job satisfaction. A significant difference in the influence of hygiene factors was observed based on the respondents' sex, with male NMTs reporting higher satisfaction in this area. However, no significant differences were found in job satisfaction levels based on age, tenure of work, or type of hospital employment.
