Abstract
This study specifically aimed to find out the following: a) if there are significant differences among the beliefs and practices done by Tagalog and Visayan women in relieving menstrual discomforts; b) which of the food preferences, herbal medicines and health hygiene practices are perceived to be most and least effective in the relief of menstrual discomforts; c) and whether these practices are still being performed at present time. Questionnaires in Likert scale type were constructed and distributed to the selected female fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas Bagong Bayan National High School. For the purpose of data gathering, answered instrument was checked, hand scored, interpreted and analyzed using t-test. Based on the findings, the researchers therefore conclude that there is no significant difference between Tagalog and Visayan practices in relieving menstrual discomfort in terms of food preferences, use of herbal medicines and health hygiene practices when they are grouped according to age.
