Abstract

This study aimed the following: 1. To determine the level of nursing management support system being implemented by the nursing administrators on the nursing personnel of De La Salle University Medical Center in terms of organizational structure, professional practice, management style, quality of leadership and professional development. 2. To know the level of job satisfaction among nursing personnel of De La Salle University Medical Center. 3. To determine the significant relationship between nursinf management support system and job satisfaction among nursing personnel of De La Salle University Medical Center. This study focused on the nursing personnel composed of 60 nurses and midwives out of 111 nursing personnel working in the different areas of De La Salle University Medical Center. The descriptive method was used in this study. To obtain the needed data, the researchers used a questionnaire as an instrument. The weighted mean and Pearson' (r) correlation coefficient were the statistical treatment utilized in the analysis of the data gathered. The following are the major findings of the study. 1. The overall mean level of nursing management supoort system in terms of organizational structure was 3.63, that falls under often. Professional practice, as part of the support system got a mean level of 3.46, which is interpreted as often. Another variable that has an overall mean level of 3.23, which falls under sometimes, is the management style. With regards to quality of leadership, it has an average of 3.21, interpreted as sometimes. Professional development got the highest mean of 3.69, which is often implemented. 2. Nursing personnel perceived their level of job satisfaction as generally satisfactory with an overall mean level of 3.47. Most of them feel satisfied with the way their co-workers get along with each other with an average of 3.90. On the other hand, the frequency of conducting counselling sessions by the chief nurse got the lowest mean of 2.98, which means that they are neutral, neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. 3. Nursing management support system and level of job satisfaction have a moderate positive linear relationship as shown by the correlation coefficient (r=0.5419). Based on the findings of the study, there was a moderate positive linear relationship between nursing management support system and job satisfaction among nursing personnel of De La Salle University Medical Center.
