Abstract
This study aims to to determine the relationship between reminiscence and self-esteem of the elderly during reminiscence. To be able to determine the profile, frequency of reminiscence, and level of self esteem of the elderly during reminiscence. This study was focused on determining the relationship between reminiscence and self esteem of 60 elderly respondents. The following are the major findings of the study: a. Majority of the respondents were female with a percentage of 57%. 60% of the respondents are healthy, 42% are elementary graduates, and 53.3% are married. b. The frequency of reminiscence were interpreted as seldom wherein the frequency of reminiscence of events from childhood have a mean score of 2.04, adolescence have 1.81, adulthood scored 2.00, and old age, 1.9. c. The level of self esteem during reminiscence at all past life events is moderate having a mean score from childhood, adolescents, adulthood and old age of 2.7, 2.25, 2.26, and 2.30 respectively. d. There was no significant relationship between reminiscence and self esteem as revealed by the computed value of Pearson r which is 0.04. Based on the findings of this study, the researcher concluded that there was no significant relationship between reminiscence and self esteem of the respondents.
