Abstract
A descriptive method of research was utilized in this study. A total of 100 respondents according to the gathered statistics of the staff nurses and nursing mothers who fit the criteria were chosen through purposive sampling (staff nurses) and convenient sampling (nursing mothers). Self-made tools, specifically questionnaires were used for data gathering. The statistical tests applied were percentage, mean, F-test and t-test. 1.) In terms of nurses’ profile, most of them were single, female, has BSN degree, and had 1-3 years of nursing service. Most of the nursing mothers belonged to the age bracket of 26-30 years old, married, with 2-3 siblings, college graduates, unemployed, and with a monthly family income of ₱10,000 and below; 2.) The level of compliance with the breastfeeding program of staff nurses was very high, while the level of compliance with the breastfeeding program of nursing mothers was moderately high; 3.) The level of compliance of staff nurses showed no significant difference when grouped according to age, gender, civil status, educational attainment, and length of nursing practice. Similarly, the level of compliance of nursing mothers showed no significant differences when grouped according to civil status, educational attainment, occupation, monthly income, and number of children. However, a significant difference was observed when the nursing mothers were grouped according to age; 4.) There is a significant difference between the perceived level of compliance of staff nurses and the perception of nursing mothers with the breastfeeding program.
