Abstract

This study aimed to determine the degree of utilization of medication and the factors affecting it in the treatment of common illnesses among selected residents in Salitran, Dasmariñas, Cavite Specific 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of age, monthly income, educational attainment and civil status? 2. What is the degree of utilization of medications in the treatment of common illnesses? 3. What are the factors affecting the utilization of medications in the treatment of common illnesses? 4. Are there significant differences in the degree of utilization of the medication when the respondents are grouped according to age, monthly income, educational attainment and civil status? 5. Are there significant differences in the factors affecting the utilization of the medication when the respondents are grouped according to age, monthly income, educational attainment and civil status? The study focused on the determination of degree of utilization of medication and the factors affecting it in the treatment of common illnesses among selected residents in Salitran, Dasmariñas, Cavite. Common Illnesses included colds, cough, fever, muscle pain, diarrhea, toothache, dizziness, sore throat, wound and gastric spasm. The respondents were selected form the four districts of Salitran namely Salitran I, Salitran II, Salitran III, and Salitran IV. The study also considered the following variables: age, monthly income, educational attainment and civil status. They were all residents of Cavite, male or female, single, married, widow or separated, employed or unemployed, and with college degree or none. The data gathered were quantitative in nature and are based on the responses of the respondents to the questionnaire regarding the degree of utilization of medication based on the factors affecting it in the treatment of common illness
