Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the relationship the relationship between the risk of acquiring disorders in the workplace and job satisfaction of nurses in selected government hospitals in Cavite. B. SPECIFIC 1. To know the profile of respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status and monthly income. 2. To know the risk of acquiring disorders by nurses in the workplace. 3. To determine the level of job satisfaction of nurses despite the risk of acquiring disorders. 4. To determine if there are significant differences in the level of job satisfaction of nurses at risk of these disorders in the workplace when grouped into age, gender, civil status, and monthly income. 5. To determine if there is significant relationship between the common disorders acquired by nurses in the workplace and their level of job satisfaction. This study involved 53 respondents from selected government hospitals in Cavite to determine the relationship between the risk of acquiring disorders in the workplace and job satisfaction of nurses in the workplace. Respondents were either male or female and single or married. The following findings were drawn from this study: 1. Among the 53 respondents, 89 percent were female and 50 percent aged 20 to 33 years old. 68 percent of the respondents were married and 53 percent receive a monthly income of lower than 10,000 pesos. 2. Among the selected staff nurses from selected government hospitals in Cavite, the risk of acquiring disorders obtained was an overall mean 1.62. 3. Among the respondents from selected government hospitals in Cavite, the level of job satisfaction resulted to an overall mean of 2.75. 4. There was no significant difference in the level of job satisfaction of nurses at risk of acquiring disorders in the workplace when grouped according to age (group 1 - 0.2848; group 2 - 0.1708; group 3 - 0.1335), gender (0.635), civil status (0.879) and monthly family income (0.062). 5. Among staff nurses of selected government hospitals in Cavite the correlation coefficient between the risk of acquiring common disorders in the workplace and job satisfaction was equal to 0.14, signifying very small positive correlation. And the correlation coefficient between non-infectious disorders and job satisfaction among nurses was equal to -0.16, signifying very small negative correlation.
