Abstract
This study south to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and level of compliance to Hepatitis B Vaccination among mothers in selected communities in Cavite. SPECIFIC: This study was conducted to determine the following: 1.The profile of respondents in terms of civil status, educational attainment, employments status, geographical location (upland or lowland), monthly family income, number of children and source of immunization. 2.The level of knowledge of the respondents regarding Hepatitis B vaccination.3.The level of compliance of the respondents regarding Hepatitis B vaccination. 4.The significant differences in the level of knowledge regarding Hepatitis B vaccination when the respondents are grouped to civil status, educational attainment, employment status, geographical location (upland or lowland), monthly family income, number of children and source of immunization. 5.The significant differences in the level of compliance to Hepatitis B vaccination when the respondents are grouped to civil status, educational attainment, employment status, geographical location (upland or lowland), monthly family income, number of children and source of immunization.6. The significant relationship between the level of knowledge of and level of compliance to Hepatitis B vaccination of mothers in selected communities in Cavite. The study focused on the relationship between the level of knowledge of and compliance to Hepatitis B vaccination of mothers in selected communities in Cavite. The respondents were 160 mothers having a child aging 5 months old up to 1 year old in selected communities in Cavite. Each respondent was given a questionnaire including all the relevant data related to the level of knowledge and compliance to Hepatitis B vaccination. The facts collected from the respondents were the basis on how the study was concluded. The computed distribution of the respondents interns of civil status is as follows: 9.4% are single, 86.3% are married, and 4.4% are separated. In terms of educational attainment, 15% obtained elementary level of education, 48.8% obtained secondary level of education 31.9% obtained secondary level of education 31.9% graduated from college, and 4.4% finished vocational education. In terms of employment status, 45% are unemployed, 46.3% are employed and 8.8% are self-employed. In terms of geographical location, 50% lives in upland. In terms of monthly family income, 61.23% has a family income of P 10,000 and below, 21.3% has an income between P 10,001 to P20,000.75% has an income of P20.001 to P30,000 and 10% has a monthly family income of P30,000 and above in terms of number of children, 56.8% of the respondents have 1-2-children, 29.4% have 3-4 children, and 11.9 have 5 or more children. In terms of source of vaccination, 90.7% of respondents have their babies vaccinated in barangay health centers while 9.4% more their babies vaccinated in private clinic/hospitals. 2. The level of knowledge of the respondents regarding Hepatitis B vaccination was interpreted as follows: Out of 160 respondents, 124 (77.5%) of mothers have high level of knowledge regarding Hepatitis B vaccination, 25 (15.6%) have an average level of knowledge, and 11 (6.8%) have low level of knowledge regarding hepatitis B vaccination.3.The level of compliance of the respondents regarding Hepatitis B vaccination was interpreted as follows: Out of 160 respondents, 100 (62.5%) of the respondents have their children vaccinated with 3 shots of hepatitis B vaccination, 24 (15%) and 22 (13.8%) of the children received 1 and 1 shot of hepatitis vaccination, respectively. However, 14 (8.8%) of the respondents were not able to have their children vaccinated. 4.There was significant differences on the level knowledge of the respondents regarding hepatitis B vaccination when they are grouped according to civil status, geographical location (upland or lowland), and monthly family income. While there were no significant differences on the level of knowledge of the respondents when they are grouped according to educational attainment, employment status, number of children, and source of vaccination. 5.There were significant differences on the level of compliance of the respondents regarding Hepatitis B vaccination when they are grouped according to employment status and number of children. On the other hand, there were no significant difference on the level of compliance of the respondents when they are grouped according to civil status, educational attainment, geographical location, (upland or lowland), monthly family income, and source of vaccination.6.There is significance and positive relationship between the level of knowledge and level of compliance of the mothers regarding Hepatitis B vaccination as indicated by the correlation coefficient of 0.214 with a p-value of 0.007 less than the 5% level of significance.
