Abstract
The main objective of this study is to determine the level of awareness on testicular self-examination among public utility vehicle drivers in Dasmariñas, Cavite. B. SPECIFIC 1. To determine the profile of the respondents according to age, aducational attainment, type of public utility vehicle driven and years of experience in driving public utility vehicles; 2. To determine the level of awareness on testicular self-examination among public utility vehicle drivers in Dasmariñas, Cavite; 3 To find out whether there is a significant difference in the level of awareness on testicular self-examination when the respondents are grouped according to age, educational attainment, type of public utility vehicle driven and years of experience in driving public utility vehicles. he study focused mainly on the level of awareness on testicular self-examination among public utility vehicle in Dasmariñas, Cavite. The researchers gathered information from 120 public utility vehicle drivers in Dasmariñas , Cavite. The study took into consideration the respondents' age, educational attainment, type of public utility vehicle driven and years of experience in driving public utility vehicles. The following findings were drawn from gathered data: 1. Out of 120 respondents, majority were 18-34 years old or 60 or 50 percent, 45 or 37.5 percent were high school graduate, the distribution of respondents was equal having 40 or 33.3 percent had been driving for more than five years. 2. Based on the respondents' awareness of this study it was revealed that testicular self-examination is a procedure by which a man checks the consistency of his testes with a mean score of 3.0333. He seeks for the similarities and differences in each of the testicles. The respondents are aware to moderate extent regarding testicular self-examination with an overall mean of 2.74. Most of the respondents perform the examination to detect lumps but since they are not well-informed and they don it on an irregular basis, the technique and the procedure itself, is not really mastered and known to most of them, while the lowest mean score was 2.25, statement that testicular cancer can be acquired by males aged 15 years old and above. 3. There was no significant difference on the level of awareness of public utility vehicle drivers regarding testicular self-examination in Dasmariñas, Cavite when the respondents were grouped according to age level the computed F - value was of 0.83 is lesser then the F - critical value 2.6828 at 0.05% level of significance. When grouped according to educational attainment the computed F value of 2.299 is less than the F-critical value of 2.6828 at 0.05% level of significance. When grouped according to type of vehicle driven the computed F value was 0.24 was lesser than the tabular F value of 3.0738 at 0.05% level of significance. And lastly, when grouped according to years of experience in driving public utility vehicles, the computed F value was 1.137 was lesser than the tabular F value of 3.0738 at 0.05% level of significance. Thus, the null hypothesis was accepted. Majority of the respondents belonged to age group 18-34, most of them were at least high school graduates and have been driving for five years or so. The distribution of respondents was equal per vehicle type. 2. The public utility vehicle drivers are aware to moderate extent regarding testicular self-examination. 3. The level of awareness on testicular self-examination has no significant difference when the respondents were grouped according to age, type of public utility vehicle being driven and years of experience in driving public utility vehicles.
