Abstract

This study utilized a quantitative descriptive correlational method which involved describing the relationship between variables. The respondents of the study were 348 mothers in selected barangays in Imus, Cavitewho are 16 to 40 years old and above and have experienced breastfeeding. The respondents were chosen using a quota sampling. The study concluded that; 1) Majority of the respondent mothers were 40 years old and younger, obtained secondary education, employed, professed Catholic faith and have delivered in hospital; 2) The respondents had very good knowledge regarding Kangaroo Care and they were heterogeneous in this aspect; 3) The respondents practiced Kangaroo Care to a great extent; 4) The level of knowledge of mothers regarding Kangaroo Care is significantly different in terms of educational attainment and usual place of delivery. Their knowledge is the same regardless of age, employment status and religious affiliation; 5) The level of practice of mothers regarding Kangaroo Care is significantly different in terms of age and educational attainment. Their practice is the same regardless of employment status, religious affiliation and usual place of delivery; 6) There was a strong linear relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of practice of the respondents. Learning is enhanced through the positive effect this kind of infant care can offer, thus resulting into the increase in the level of practice because of the good results.
