Abstract

This study used a descriptive, non-experimental quantitative research design. Eighty seven or fifty four percent sample respondents were derived from a population of 160 mothers who were residing at Brgy. Ulat, Silang, Cavite, specifically those mothers from 18-45 years old with children ranging from 0-6 years old. Non-probability sampling was utilized. Using convenience sampling, a sample was chosen based on their relative ease of access. The tool used in this study was adapted and modified from Sico et al. 2003. Percentage, mean, t-test and f-test were the statistical treatments were used for analyzing the data. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were obtained: 1) Majority of the mothers with children 0-6 years old who are using Lagundi as treatment for cough and colds at Barangay Ulat, Silang, Cavite were 29-39 years old, unemployed and prepare Lagundi by decoction; 2) The mothers have a moderate level of knowledge regarding the use of Lagundi as treatment for cough and colds; 3) There is no significant difference on the level of knowledge of mothers with children 0-6 years old who are using Lagundi as treatment for cough and colds when they were grouped according to age, civil status, educational attainment, employments status and type of preparation; 4) There is a significant difference on the level of knowledge of mothers with children 0-6 years old who are using Lagundi as treatment for cough and colds when they were grouped to socio-economic status.
