Abstract
The researchers utilized the quantitative-descriptive research design. The study involved 100 chronically ill elders from communities in Paliparan III, Dasmarinas, Cavite. The respondents of the study were selected using purposive sampling and snowballing. The main data gathering instrument used was a adapted and modified.questionnaire, to answer specific problems and to test the hypotheses of the study, the frequency, percent distribution, mean, F-test were utilized. The following conclusions were obtained based from the findings of the study: 1) Majority of the primary caregivers of the chronically ill elders were female, 36 to 59 years old, married, from Luzon, have monthly income of P10,000 and below, children of the chronically ill elders, and were taking care of the chronically ill elders for 37 months and above; 2) The primary caregivers of the chronically ill elders sometimes experience physical, emotional and social difficulties; 3) There is significant difference in the difficulties experienced by the primary caregivers in taking care of the chronically ill elders when they were grouped according to length of caregiving but there are no significant difference in the difficulties experienced by the primary care givers in taking care of the chronically ill elders when they were grouped according to gender, age, civil status, ethnic background, monthly income, and relationship to the elder.
