Abstract
Recognizing the rapid development and vulnerability of Filipino adolescents (ages 10–19) to injuries, substance abuse, mental health issues, and communicable diseases, the Department of Health (DOH) implemented the Adolescent Health and Development Program (AHDP) to promote their overall well-being. This study aimed to determine the level of awareness of Senior High School students in selected areas of Cavite regarding the AHDP. A Descriptive, Analytical, Cross-sectional Research Design was employed. Data were collected from 429 students using a 15-item adapted questionnaire based on the AHDP Manual. A multistage sampling technique, including stratified and simple random sampling, was utilized. Most respondents were female, in Grade 11, enrolled in private schools, belonged to families with incomes of Php 11,000 and below, and cited school as their primary source of information. Findings revealed a generally high level of awareness of the AHDP among students. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in awareness based on Year level and Socioeconomic status, with Grade 12 students and those in the Php 40,001–Php 75,000 income bracket demonstrating higher awareness. No significant differences were observed across other demographic variables. The study recommends further exploratory research to investigate additional factors beyond demographics that may influence AHDP awareness.
