Abstract

The study utilized a descriptive-analytical research design, quantitative design. The sampling technique used is snowball convenience sampling. Data gathering of the study was conducted online through Google forms. The research tool used is a self-made questionnaire that is aligned with the theoretical framework of Betty Neuman (1982) and Health Belief Model (1958). The following statistical treatments were adapted to answer thespecific problems and to test the hypothesis of this study: (a) Frequency distribution, (b) Percentage, (c) Mean, (d) Standard Deviation, (e) T-test, and (d) ANOVA. Based on the findings, the following conclusions were formulated: 1) Most respondents are females, Senior High School Graduates, unemployed, with family’s monthly average income of less than P10,957, and PhilHealth contributors; 2) The respondents exhibit “positive” attitudes by disagreeing with the stigmatizing statements towards social stigma on COVID-19; 3) There are no significant differences in the attitude of young individuals towards the social stigma on COVID-19 when grouped according to educational attainment, employment status, and access to health insurance. However, there are significant differences in the attitude of young individuals towards the social stigma on COVID-19 when grouped according to sex and family’s monthly average income.
