Abstract

The study utilizes phenomenological design of qualitative research to answer the grand tour question, “what are your experiences as nursing student during online classes due to Covid19 pandemic?” Purposive sampling was used for the 13 participants interviewed. Using Colaizzi's method, there were four (4) themes and two (2) subthemes that emerged from the data analysis. The first theme is Compromised Social Relationship. The second theme is Missing Experience for Live Skills Training. The third theme is Asynchronous Learning. The fourth theme is Workload and Burnout with two (2) subthemes, The Work Environment and Forming Coping strategies. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the experiences of DLSMHSI nursing students in online learning have different outcomes. Online classes gave limited opportunities for the students to interact face to face that made social relationship compromised. Hands on training to hone skills of nursing students which are important are not possible during online classes. Nevertheless, the asynchronous activities for online classes made students become independent and identify the necessary coping skills which are important to make them surpass all the challenges of the nursing program.
