Abstract

The research is recognized as a quantitative design employing a descriptive correlational research type. The researchers utilized purposive sampling. Out 343 participants, 107 were chosen in the study. A simple demographic profile questionnaire and modified reduced version of the Adult Sibling Relationship Questionnaire (ASRQ) from the study of Guarnieri et al. (2013) were used for data gathering. Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, percetnage, mean, standard deviation, f-test, t-test and Spearman's Rank Correlation. The study concluded that, 1) Out of the 107 participants, most are females and have only one older sibling, 2) As per the participants' degree of relationship with their older siblings, many have moderate sibling relationship, 3) Based on the AMS-C results, most of the participants have shown to be highly motivated towards academic achievement, 4) When the respondents were grouped according to their sex and number of older siblings, it has shown that there are no significant differences in their level of motivation for academic achievement, 5) The findings revealed no significant relationship between the older sibling-adolescent relationship and the motivation for academic achievement of DLSMHSI's first year nursing students.
