Abstract
The study utilized a descriptive-correlational method with a questionnaire as the data collection tool. The question is composed of two parts: General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) that is a standardized tool by VISN 4 MIRECC for assessing the level of anxiety of the respondents and the second part is an adopted and modified tool from Ways of Coping Questionnaire (1985) by Richard Lazarus and Susan Folkman. The respondents were selected using proportional sampling. The total population was 811. The researchers used Slovin's formula to identify the sample size of this population and used a 5% margin of error in the computation. The sample size was 268. The correlation was determined by the Pearson r test accompanied by other statistical treatments such as t-test, mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage distribution and ANOVA test. The study concluded that, 1) Most of the respondents who experienced anxiety and used coping skills during the COVID-19 pandemic were between the ages 0f 18-22 years old, female, 1st year level on the nursing program and Catholic, 2) The BS Nursing students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute experienced moderate anxiety for more than half of the days during the COVID-19 pandemic, 3) The BS Nursing students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute cope most of the time using cognitive, spiritual, emotional and physical coping skills during the COVID-19 pandemic, 4) During the COVID-19 pandemic, the sex of BS Nursing students do affect their level of anxiety while their age, year level and religion do not effect it, 5) The sex, age, year level and religion of BS Nursing students do not affect their coping skills during the COVID-19 pandemic, 6) The level of anxiety of BS Nursing students has no direct relationship with the coping skills they used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
