Abstract
A descriptive, non-experimental research design was utilized and total enumeration sampling, which gathered 111 respondents out of 223 staff nurses working at DLSUMC. The research instrument was send to the staff nurses with the assistance of the Nursing Service Department using Google Forms. The researchers formulated a questionnaire as a tool for data gathering. The tool was adapted from the COVID-19 Safety checklist prepared by the Infection and Control Office (IPCO) of DLSUMC and released by the Office of the General Services of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSMHSI). Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, percentage distribution, standard deviation, Kruskal Wallis H Test and Mann Whitney U Test. The following conclusions were drawn: 1) The majority of the respondents were female, single, and with 1 to 5 years of work experience. A greater number of the respondents were 30 to 39 years old and staff nurses assigned in the Operating Room Complex, 2) The staff nurses demonstrated high adherence to infection prevention and control measures on specific areas included Hand Hygiene, Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Respiratory Hygiene/Cough Etiquete, Observance of Physical Distancing, Safe Injection Practices, Sterile Instruments and Devices, Cleaning and Disinfection, and Waste Segregation. Staff nurses exhibited moderate adherence to COVID 19-19 Declaration and Contract Tracing. Overall, the staff nurses of DLSUMC had high adherence to infection prevention and control measures, 3) Married staff nurses demonstrated a higher level of adherence compared to single staff nurses. Furthermore, the level of adherence does not significantly vary according to age, sex, years of work experience, and nursing unit assigned.
