Abstract

A non-experimental descriptive type of research design was utilized. The study utilized a researcher-made type of questionnaire. The respondents of the study were workers residing in Barangay Salawag, City of Dasmarinas, Cavite, aging 18 to 65 years old, and working during the COVID-19 pandemic. A snowball sampling method was used to gather a total of 384 respondents. The used frequency, percentage distribution, mean, Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test. The following conclusions were drawn from this study: 1) Majority of the respondents were female with age ranging from 25-31 years old, college graduate, and earn P11, 690 and below monthly, 2) Socioeconomic factors, individual factors, cues to action, and trust in the government and policy makers positively affect the workers' compliance to the face mask and face shield policy. However, the factors affecting compliance varied on the demographic profile of the respondents, 3) Among all the factors, individual factors affected compliance the most, implying that knowledge, awareness about how COVID-19 is transmitted, and the purpose of PPE as well as their perceptions about the COVID virus' severity, their vulnerability, effectiveness of face masks and face shields are indicators of compliance, 4) Despite the economic constraints brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, continuous compliance, and investment in protective health behaviors are still followed, 5) Women are more compliant with public health measures and take the COVID-19 pandemic more seriously in contrast with men, 6) Vulnerable age groups' compliance is influenced by the following cues to action: a) fear of infecting other people, b) fear of being infected, 7) The higher the educational attainment, the more likely an individual is compliant with the public health policies during the COVID-19 pandemic, 8) Affordability and prioritization of resources served as hindrances for low-income workers as they appear to be affected the most. Thus, compliance varied among their group.
