Abstract

The study utilized the non-experimental descriptive type of research design. Using purposve sampling, the population of this study is composed of 30 relatives of different stroke patients at selected hospitals in Cavite namely: De La Salle University Medical Center, Dasmarinas, Cavite; St. Paul Hospital, Dasmarinas, Cavite and Metro South Medical Center, Bacoor, Cavite. The following conclusions were made based on the findings: 1) From the 30 primary caregiver respondents, there are more persons belonging to age ranging from 16-32 years old, majority were female caregivers, Catholic, most were college graduate, married, with family income ranging from P5,000 and below and P5,001 to P20,000 and have a duration of caregiving of one week; 2) The level of adjustment of primary caregivers of stroke patients are selected hospitals in Cavite falls under “sometimes” for all aspects of adjustments; 3) There was no significant difference in the level of adjustment of primary caregivers of stroke patients at selected hospitals in Cavite when grouped according to age, gender, religious affiliation and family income; 4) There was a significant difference in the level of adjustment of primary caregivers of stroke patients at selected hospitals in Cavite when grouped according to educational attainment, civil status and duration of caregiving.
