Abstract

This study utilized a descriptive method of nonexperimental research design. The respondents of the study were 150 older persons aged 65 old and above residing in Rosario, Cavite. Target respondents were selected through nonprobability convenience sampling. A self-made questionnaire was utilized. The collected data were subjected to statistical treatments; percentage distribution, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA via F-test and t-test. The study concluded that 1) Majority of the respondents are from the age group of 65 to 74 years old, females, widowed, Catholics, with a monthly family income of under P40,000, elementary undergraduates, with social support, with a formal primary source of health care and perceive themselves with a good health status, 2) The older persons in Rosario, Cavite have a positive health seeking behavior. This is an affirmation that elderly in this place know how to look after their health, 3) There is no significant difference in the health seeking behavior of older persons when grouped according to age, sex, civil status, religion, monthly family income, educational attainment, social support, primary source of health care and health status.
