Abstract
This study utilized a descriptive research type of design, specifically quantitative analytical method. Sixty (60) mothers served as the respondents of the study using a purposive sampling in the City of Dasmarians, Cavite. A modified and self-made tool questionnaire were utilized. Data were subjected to the following statistical treatments: percentage distribution, frequency and Chi-square test. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents with children five years old and below who had measles in the City of Dasmarinas, Cavite were 28-37 years old, single, high school graduate, unemployed, has a monthly family income of P40,000 below, has one to two children, and were Catholic, 2) Majority of the respondents with children five years old and below who had measles in the City of Dasmarinas, Cavite had a very low level of knowledge regarding the prevention and management of measles. The respondents knew that seeking medical consultation for medical advise regarding their child's health is important in the prevention of complications of measles as well as Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine and Measles Vaccine (MV) are available in health centers for free. Majority of the respondents moderately practiced the given prevention and management of measles. The most common was application of ointment, oil, etc. whenever rashes appear while bringing their child on time to the health center during his/her vaccination schedule was poorly practiced, 3) Respondents with children five years old and below who had measles in the City of Dasmarinas, Cavite form different age groups, civil status, educational attainment, employment status, monthly family income, number of children, and religion have the same level of knowledge and practices regarding the prevention and management of measles.
