Abstract
This research study used a quantitative and a descriptive design were applied to gather needed data from 2nd to 4th year undergraduate students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, City of Dasmarinas, Cavite as respondents of the study. The researchers used a stratified random sampling technique. The total sample number of students included as a sample was identified using the Slovin's formula. There were 312 respondents were selected in the study. A self-made questionnaire was used based on the theoretical framework and related literatures to determine the perceived effects of stress on the academic performance of students in DLSMHSI. Data was analyzed through the used of percentage distribution, mean, standard deviation, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) via f-test, and t-test. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents (a) were between the age of 18-20 years old, 9b) were females, (c) had a family monthly income of P100,000-P249,999, (d) in program of the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, (e) currently living with family, 2) According to the perceived effects of stress of 312 respondents. One hundred fifty (150) respondents perceived stress as a factor that rarely affects their academic performance followed by 100 respondents perceiving stress as a factor that sometimes affects their academic performance; 37 respondents perceiving stress as a factor that never affects their academic performance; 24 respondents perceiving stress as a factor that often affects their academic performance and only one respondent perceived stress as a factor that always affect their academic performance, 3) In terms of age, the effects of stress on the students, whether male or female in DLMHSI, were the same, 4) In terms of family monthly income, results indicate that the there is no significant the effect of stress in the academic performance, 5) In terms of academic program, the results indicate that there is no significant the effects of stress in the academic performance, 6) In terms of current living status, the results revealed that the effects of stress on students varying their current living status in DLSHSI were the same.
