Abstract

The study utilized a correlational quantitative method of research. A printed self-made questionnaire anchored on the Theory of Maternal Role Attainment was utilized to gather the essential data and test hypotheses. The sample size of 126 respondents was determined using Cochran's Formula for Finite Populations. Convenience sampling was used. Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Kruskal Wallis H Test, (f) Mann Whitney U Test, and (g) Spearman's Rho. The following conclusions were inferred: 1) A majority of the respondents belonged to the 19-40 years age group, were unemployed and high school graduates, had a monthly income of below P10,957 and had given birth via vaginal delivery, 2) A majority of the respondents had a very high level of knowledge of full breastfeeding practices, 3) A majority of the respondents had a high level of compliance with full breastfeeding practices, 4) The results of the study showed that there is no significant difference in the respondents' level of knowledge of full breastfeeding practices when they are grouped according to age, employment status and type of delivery. On the other hand, the findings reveal that there is a significant difference in the level of knowledge in terms of educational attainment and family monthly income, 5) The results of the study showed that there is no significant difference in the respondents' level of compliance with full breastfeeding practices according to age, employment status, educational attainment, family monthly income and type of delivery, 6) The results of the study showed that there is a weak/low positive relationship between the respondents' level of knowledge of and compliance with full breastfeeding practices.
