Abstract

Medical Laboratory Science is a field of science that combines various disciplines in analyzing specimens for the diagnosis, treatment, and control of diseases, requiring professionals and students to have a strong academic foundation, practical training, and ethical discipline. This study evaluates the knowledge of 4th-year Medical Laboratory Science interns regarding laboratory procedures after their first hospital rotation. A quantitative descriptive method was utilized through a 70-item Google Forms questionnaire to evaluate the target respondents' knowledge level. The results showed that more than 58% of the interns are highly knowledgeable, 36.1% have moderate knowledge, and 5.9% have a low level of knowledge regarding laboratory procedures. In addition, there is also a noticeable significant difference in the level of knowledge of interns regarding Histopathology according to sex; however, no significant difference in the level of knowledge of interns overall and in line with the other laboratory sections was observed due to the lack of evidence. Overall, the findings can be useful to medical laboratory interns, hospital administration and training coordinators, the community, the academe, and future researchers.
