Abstract
The study describes the profile of patients who underwent Cesarean delivery under GA at De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC) from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2013. Out of 2,789 cesarean deliveries at DLSUMC from 2009-2013, there are 78 or 2.86% who underwent GA for the procedure which is acceptable based on the best practice guidelines by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Most of the patients belong to 31-35 years of age range with BMI of less equal 29.9. The most common indication of giving GA among the patients was due to a perceived lack of time, followed by maternal contraindications to regional anesthesis and few were associated with inadequate analgesis due to prolonged procedure. Most emergency case occur during the nigh shift and significant number of case required general anesthesis due to a perceived lack of time.
