Abstract

The study described the demographic characteristics and clinical presentation to the echocardiographic findings of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in DLSUMC form April 2020 - April 2021. Patients over 18 years of age who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19 and who underwent Transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) after being discharged between April 2020 to April 2021, at De La Salle University Medical Center were included in this study. All cases were verifies through reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assays performed via oropharyngeal swabs and patients who had pulmonary infiltrates on chest radiograph. Of the 29 patients, most of them had coexisting comorbidities prior to SARS-CoV-2 infection. This was evident based on the maintenance medications some of the patients were already taking prior to hospitalization due to the infection. Since not all patients underwent 2DED prior to admission due to COVID-19, a comparison could not be made. Hence, the changes seen in the procedure cannot be fully attributed as effect of the infection.
