Erythema induratum presenting as lupus panniculitis : a case report

Abstract

The case report aims to educate readers that erythema induratum may present with a positive ANA and can be mistaken as lupus panniculitis. A 28 year old female, known to have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and allergic rhinitis, who work as a nurse and with TB exposure. Two years ago, the patient noticed that new lesions appeared on her upper extremities which prompted her to sought consult. Biopsy was also done which revealed a lobular granulomatous inflammatory infiltrate of histiocytes and lymphocytes which confirms the diagnosis of erythema induratum. Patient was the referred to TB DOTS clinic for Anti-tubercular therapy (ATT). The case highlighted the importance of further diagnostic examination in patients not responding to treatment.
