Abstract

An institutional based Cross-sectional study was conducted using a non-probability sampling technique to select diabetic patients. Total of 210 consenting adults aged 19-80 years old were subjected to answer a 20-point self-administered questionnaire from June to September 2016. Odds ratio and the corresponding 95% confidence interval from Binary logistic regression was computed to determine significant predictors of PAID score. More than half of the respondents (n=144) had mean PAID scored of 19.38 which correlates to good attitude or absence of burnout. In general, among the 3 domains: fear, anger and frustration, fear stands out as minor to moderate problem in diabetic patients irregardless of their PAID scores. In contrast to other studies, the present showed good attitude scores in all ranges of glycemic control whether good, fair or poor. Based on our analysis, however, we had insufficient evidence to determine whether any of the characteristics were significant predictors for overall PAID score. This model explained only 3.06% of the variation in PAID score (p=0.6224).
