Abstract
The study is about the accuracy of ultrasound in diagnosing acute appendicitis in children at De La Salle University Medical Center. A total of 63 children were included in the study. Majority were adolescents with female preponderance (male or female ratio of 0.6:1). This study showed that US has low sensitivity (33.3%) and specificity (66.67%) in diagnosing acute appendicitis. The PPV is high at 95.74% while the NPV is low at 4.76%, the overall diagnostic accuracy is only 34.95%.
