Abstract
Descriptive cross-sectional retrospective study was used. The study included pediatric patients 1 month-18 years of age presented with seizure and admitted as status epilepticus from January 2010-December 2020. In this study, the most common seizure type was tonic-clonic generalized seizure. Predominantly recorded seizure duration was 5-10 minutes indicating the need for immediate management and stabilization to shorten seizure duration. Metabolic imbalance and infection was the most common etiology. Status epilepticus is not solely the main cause of mortality in pediatric patients but also highly anticipated in more than one etiology. Termination of seizure activity wit recommend anti-seizure medication and prudent management of underlying cause would result to prevention of disability and improved outcome.
