Abstract
This is a case of a 9-month old female who developed polydipsia and polyuria after excessive hydration by her parents during about of 3-days of diarrhea. After comprehensive assessment, different causes of polydipsia were considered. MRI was done to rule out a hypothalamic lesion. Highly considering diabetes insipidus (DI), a water deprivation test was done but confirmed a rare case of primary polydipsia rather than that of DI. The patient's symptoms were prompted by excessive hydration in an attempt to manage the diarrhea, which eventually led to polyuria. Management done was strict fluid limitation and caloric build up.
