Abstract
This paper aims to compare the beneficial effects of continuing metformin therapy among polycystic ovarian syndrome patients who became pregnant versus those who stopped the use of the said drug pregnancy and determine pregnancy outcomes. Five articles were selected. Women diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome who were on Metfromin therapy and became pregnant, and continued the use of the drug were included in the meta-analysis. Continuing metformin during pregnancy in patients diagnosed to have polycystic ovarian syndrome showed a potential benefit in reducing adverse pregnancy outcomes associated with the above condition. Additional studies especially randomized controlled trials are needed for validation of the results.
